Today is International Ataxia Awareness Day

On 25 September each year we ask our Friends to get involved and help spread the word about ataxia. A recent poll showed only 9% of GB adults know what ataxia is. (YouGov poll March 2014). We ran a poster campaign in April 2014 to help raise awareness. Ataxia#AttackItBack

International Ataxia Awareness Day (IAAD) is our opportunity to change this! To tell the world who we are, what we do and why we do it. It’s your chance to make a big difference!

Why I blog because “Thanks to my Friedreich’s Ataxia I struggle to hold a pen these days, so my laptop is my pen, and my blog is my paper. Also call this a little selfish on my behalf, but everyone knows about cancer and other illnesses and disabilities but no one knows  anything about FA until you or someone you know goes through it. (That’s a fact because we sure didn’t know anything, until I was diagnosed with it)

This is my one man mission, to spread the word of FA to the masses. I Don't Wanna Stop till the aliens in the universe know about Friedreich's Ataxia.

Hit someone in the face or have somone hit you in the face with a cream pie...shaving cream is good, no sense in wasting a good pie. Video it, and the hitter must explain a fact about ataxia. Challenge 3 people to do it, and also challenge Ellen DeGeneres. Like Ellen's page and send a copy of video to her show and to Fight Ataxia. The 3 people you challenge have 48 hours to complete it, or donate $50 to The Fight Ataxia Project. Hopefully, we will raise some research dollars, and get Ellen to accept the challenge on air. This has absolutely nothing to do with any ataxia challenges you may see or hear about. READY, SET, GO!!!!
