Happy New Year to all 2014 Here We Go

Last night at The Anvil in Bournemouth we had the ★ WHEELS OF STEEL FUNDRAISER to help raise funds towards my new wheelchair and RAISING AWARENESS of Friedreich's Ataxia and a★ NEW YEARS EVE - The PARTY OF the YEAR is HERE!!! ★

We had live music from 2 bands (live music is just the best) and after the bands we done a raffle. Then we went upstairs where my friend Bear Mills was DJing, and I have to say what a party it was, everybody singing God Gave Rock And Roll To You by KISS at midnight and then going straight into Tenacious D with Tribute, was amazing have a good old sing along and seeing loads of people having a good time, was a great way to close the door on 2013 and say hello to 2014.

 2013 was a pretty good year with its high points (Got my lovely new light weight wheelchair, did a few kick-ass gigs, watch a few great films, got to play 2 of the best games ever in Grand Theft Auto 5 and The Last Of Us, and other cool stuff too) it also had a few low points (Mainly due to FA, had a few heath worries in 2013, but now after a few months of test and doctors, things are not as bad as I thought) 2013 was a pretty good year, and one thing I will take with me into 2014 is I am not alone in this fight, I have the full support  of my Friends, Family and fellow FAers around the world, Wish everybody well

Yes!Yes!Yes!

I got my Octane wheelchair (my Betty) back rolling today I'm happy. :-)  It was meant to get done yesterday but the postman didn't deliver the new inner tube till 3.30pm, so we go it done today. I am back rolling effortlessly and loving it. :-)

Fingers crossed it's not raining to night i am going to go down town to watch my friends band Rock Out on the Christmas stage we have in town.  Voodoo Vegas they are called and man do they Rock! \m/

If you live in Bournemouth come on down for some Voodoo Vegas play some new songs, old classic's, and even some Christmas songs. Who knows we might even break out some Christmas jumpers. 8.30pm-10.00pm

A Bad and Good Day Today

It’s a bad and good day for me today, as I am back using my old wheelchair. My new lightweight chair (Betty) has a flat tyre, and it is a complete mystery to how.  Because 1. I have puncture resistant tyres and 2. I have not left my bungalow. I think the inner tube may have popped on the inside, as I tried to pump it up, and you could hear the air coming out. 

I phoned RGK up this morning and explained it all to the lady on the phone, and they are sending out a replacement inner tube today, and it should be here by tomorrow.

After I got off the phone and rolled into the front room, on the radio came Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, so I am taking that as a sign that everything is going to be alright.  Fingers crossed tomorrow the inner tube comes and we can get Betty back rolling.

On a more positive note

My cousin came round today and help me rig up my new energenie 4 way radio controlled extension lead, so I no longer have to switch my gadgets off at the wall I will now be able to do it from my bed with the remote.  Like the lazy person I am (hahaha) no but having FA there is nothing worse than having to get up and out of bed when you are comfy, I should add when you don’t need to. It’s a huge pain in the arse, a massive thank you goes out to Julia Hardy for letting me know about the energenie extension lead and to my cousin Marco for helping me rig it up, I was the brains and he was my muscles. (the picture below is the energenie extension)

I am almost at 2000 page views on my blog thank you to everybody who reads it and for the support much love and thank you.

Because I’m on Top of the World

Because I’m on top of the world, I’m on top of the world, waiting on this for a while now.

Because to I became a proud owner of a RGK Octane wheelchair. (The wheelchair I have only been dreaming about owning for years) Today that dream became reality, and I am over the moon with happiness. 

Getting a new wheelchair is just like getting a new bike, car or horse everything becomes new and it takes time to adjust and break it in. I have only been rolling around my bungalow so far and already everything is just so effortless, it’s amazing I am in love.

My wheelchair is a she of course and I have decided to name her Betty. (After the 1977 classic Ram Jam song Black Betty) and oh man is she lightweight, when i’m not in the chair I can lift Betty with one hand. It’s crazy light and that is because she is made from 9th grade titanium and carbon fiber. Betty is all sexy black matt paint, apart from the wheels she as a bit of red paint on the tips of the spokes, looks amazing her style fits perfect to me, as Dan said to me the guy from RGK this wheelchair was custom built for me.

I am so very happy right now I can’t stop smiling, a massive thank you goes out to my Nan and Granddad and my Family for the help and support they have given me to get my Octane named Betty.   

Hospital today was Good but also a Bloody Joke.

Hospital today was good but also a bloody joke.

We left home at 1.30pm to travel to the Royal South Hants Hospital in Southampton as my appointment was for 3.00pm. We arrive at the Hospital at 2.45pm and roll in. I got to reception desk to check in and do all that, I get called and handed a card, and I have to go for an x-ray. We head down to x-ray and check in down there. (It said on the board that wait for x-ray was 1 hour) I waited more like 2 hours before I was seen, and 45mintues of that was spent in the waiting room in one those stupid Hospital gown. As I was in having my x-rays done my mum told me after that Mr. Evan Davies sent his secretary round to see where I was because my appointment was for 3.00pm. 

I haven’t seen Mr. Evan Davies in about 7 years. (And I didn’t see him till gone 5.00pm because of the delay at x-ray, I’m happy he stay to see me as he was ready to go home)

He said my Scoliosis had got a little worse from the time before. (Before the curve was 40% dirge and now it’s about a 43%) he said so it’s nothing really to worry about, and as I do not have any back pain of discomfort when sitting there is nothing they can do.

    

After the summer of weird episodes of pain that I thought were linked to my back, today has been closure for me and fantastic news that my Scoliosis had only got a little worse.

On the move again today for Hospital

On the move again today. Back to Southampton this time for Hospital, to see the spine doctor.  I had  an appointment for  21/1/2014 and it got reschedule to today Tuessay the 26th of November at 3 o'clock.
My mum seems to think that they have pushed it forward because of the scan i had on my stomach and I'm finding out I have an enlarged spleen.
Maybe it is, i don't no all I am hoping for is that it is good news and my spine hasnt got any worse.
Good or bad news i will do a post later tonight.
